Kain, I haven't uploaded any new code, so it's the same version of the site that's been running for months. I'm afraid you are going insane, quickly rather than slowly.
Yes, I'm working on the 503 errors. My server is running out of RAM and FFC is dying for that reason. I'm fixing the database layer to cache less aggressively.
It doesn't have a higher resolution. I'm just trying (and temporarily failing) to get it to stop crashing so much for now.
For a suitably undefined value of "soon". I have a business trip coming up. First priority is to fix up a few things that are broken. Then I can add new stuff.
The good news is I think I figured out why the server was crashing, so it shouldn't any longer.
FF7 had a tiny teenage girl who could kill enormous monsters. Discounting Cat Claw, white mage is as strong a fighter as black mage (who is clearly male) for most of the game. Given a Masamune, white mage does as much damage as a mid-level Fighter.
Many (most?) fantasy-genre games, novels, and videos which depict females generally have them on par with men. D&D rules for example don't penalize women, they receive no STR or CON penalties. Example 2: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
QED. | ||||
@Um... Right, there are two points: 1) Men are on average stronger than women, 2) Any given woman may or may not be stronger than any given man. Of those two points I think the latter is by far the more important one.

I've got an idea for this site. How about friend lists?
HEY! WHATS THAT!?!? *steals 150 gill*
Brian, could you please post the original version of the Walkthrough (or better yet the original version of the entire site). Just think of this request like if someone who had only played the PSP remake wanted to see what the NES version was like.
You got a face book? | |
Brian, I think your awsome
Hi Brian! Replying here because it feels awkward on my own profile page (comments could use a direct reply feature!). We used to have correspondence over e-mail back in the day, I recall discussing about your opinions of the other NES FF games (I do love II and III).
The main tip I offered to the site was that Kyzokus (Privateers now) offer an alternative to Gold raising in the early game. I disliked (and still do in the NES version at least) fighting Ogres and Creeps because of random poison-inducing enemies (snakes and spiders) along the way on land which would force me to buy Pures or at least make agonizing trips to the inn. The sea offers a safer alternative, though Kyzokus are rare. Of course it's moot in all post-PS1 ports since gold-raising is easier.
Hello Brian. My name is Sandy. Yoroshuku.
I read in the 'news' that you with Nicoles help are making a FF-style RPG. Great to hear. Alwasy nice to know someone else is taking an interest in the genre.
I thought I would give you a few links to check out in hopes of further spurring your creativity.
The first is for Byond.com, Byond.com if you are unfamiliar with the site, is a site completely about fan made games. When you download the client you recieve three different progams. One for connecting to the game-hub and playing the games there, one for making your own games, and the third program is for hosting the games you make. The game uses a code-language similar to C++ with lots of built in procs. to help make games faster.
Here is a link for some fan made FF-RPG's... http://www.byond.com/members/?command=top_search&text=Final+Fantasy&type=games
That brings you to a page with several fan-made FF-style RPG's. Some are very similar to older FF games, while others are a bit more unorthodox. The one I play is called FF-"The Hunting Grounds". Currently in version 7, and nearing version 8. Best thing about FFHG... "Eight person Parties"! That's right, not to mention a great chat function, and ten different classes to choose from.
Another link I thought I would put here is for a sprite making program that comes built in with many of the sprites from FF3, it gives you the character sprite sets, the monsters, and items, all at your disposal to redesign.
That link is... http://www.rpglegion.com/ff6/ff3se/index.htm
Hope they help. Enjoy! | |

Re: The Ban thingy thread about Dusklord: Just curious :)
YOU LIE BRIAN, WHITE MAGE (in ff1) IS A MAN!!!
Brian doth not *lie* | |
I think he can' It's simply hard to discern the exact quantity of time that passes before anything he says instantly becomes truth, irregardless of what the past truths were (the past "truths," of course, become fictions anyway.).
brian is more of a spammer than anybody else on the site, but he hasn't removed a single one of his own posts. that makes Mr. Carper here a hypocrite.
You hear that sound? No? Thats the noise of a banhammer flying twoards your skull for critisizing the master.
How so, LoF? I often find him to be quite eloquent.
He posts with purpose. | |
I really enjoy your site, man. Good work. :)
