This is actually not such a bad party in the early stages of the game in my opinion. Although very expensive to equip, once you get 4 silver swords, 4 blasts of fire2/lit2 and healing magic, you have a very effective party indeed.
Obviously, however, it gets worse and worse as the game progresses. You can't use excalibur, the best armours or any 8th level spells. Still, with reasonable armour, a masumune and a sunsword, this party will get you through ok if you fancied trying it.

The first time I beat the game with this party every Red Wizard was above level 40. I seemed to remember that I needed all of them to level up to the point that they would be getting 5 or 6 hits per attack.
When you are trying to beat the game, however, you'll have a ton of FASTs and Cure spells. These make it easier.
So expensive at the beginning, and so slow at the end. A lot of fun, however.

Red Mages just don't hit hard enough, have access to enough armor, or have enough spell charges. Early in the game this party isn't that bad(really because of how strong black magic is early in the game). The lack of high level spells and 4th best attack in the game(even slighlty lower than ninja) make this party fairly annoying. Armor options are also very limited, so you need to equip opal/gold bracelets on all, which reduces the amount of other inventory you can carry(having characters that can equip the black or white shirts frees up extra slots to carry around specialty items)

You'd think with lots of redundancy (four capable attackers, four healers, four FAST casters, four FIR3s in a row, and four characters who won't die in a single hit), that this party would be easy to all but own the game with.
Not so. This one's deceptively difficult... that's why I like it.

I agree, the more harder the party is to play makes a huge difference to me, i hate using running parties, it takes the fun out of the game...

It's the ultimate "average" party.
Like JC said, it's deceptively challenging and also deceptively fun. It's a good game.
Personally, i don't like having to bypass all the cool items later on, but then it becomes something like a forced challenge game, which is kinda acceptable.
