| FF1 for iPhone / iPod Touch | |
![]() Because the world just doesn't have enough FF1 ports yet, Square is apparently making a version of FF1 for the iPhone and iPod Touch. From the two screenshots so far, it looks pretty much identical to the PSP port, but with huge ugly touchable icons instead of a menu.
Honestly I'm all in favor of remakes, if it brings FF1 to a new generation of gamers. It's a good game and it's cool that it's survived 20 years. | |

AWESOME!
DAMN! I only have iPod nano. CRAP!
Damn!, now i gotta buy an iPod Touch......
That looks AWESOME
I just want the original game in the original graphics in the original difficulty on a handheld system (the iPod touch would be perfect). That's all I ask.
I would also be okay with an upgraded version that has the original as an unlockable Easter Egg or something.
Looks nice, but why do they keep having to stick with the newer system? I don't like having a pooled amount of MP on ff1 :(
@gnaist: If you put custom firmware on a PSP, you can have your wish via NES emulation.
Really looking forward to it!
I will definitely be purchasing all final fantasy games on the iPhone. I'm extremely excited, especially because the iPhone turn-based RPG's available now are pretty sparse, and not as good as FF1. Anyone ever play the Final Fantasy Legend series on game boy? Also awesome.
I LOVED the Final Fantasy Legend series, especially the second one. I played that a ridiculous number of times on the bus to and from school. Ahh, the days of the original Game Boy...
Thats the one I played as well. Would love to see those come out for the iPhone as well, though no game is as good as the original Final Fantasy for NES.
I can't wait; I'm glad I bought my fiance an iPod Touch. I'm sure she won't see it for quite a while once these games are released
Just picked up both games for my Touch, and am already on my way to the swamp cave. I've played the NES version dozens of times--on the original console, emulators (Nestopia is my favorite), and the Wii virtual console--but I've never played any of the remakes before. I could probably spend considerable time praising the added polish and lamenting the reduced challenge and faster pacing, but that's probably old news for most readers, who I assume have played earlier remakes. As for the touch controls, I actually really like them. There are a few quirks (e.g. having to target an enemy even after selecting an attack-all spell like FIR2...er..."Fira"), which will hopefully be patched after a while, but generally it's all very smooth and intuitive. The game also hangs for a second or two any time there's a switch in modes (to and from combat encounters, to and from the menu screen, etc.), which breaks the flow of the game, but this may be a product of playing the game on a 1st gen Touch. In the end, it's great to see my all-time favorite game on one of today's most popular platforms; I'm going to have a great time playing it, and I hope a lot of new gamers do too.
This is the final straw. Time to buy that Ipod Touch!
Just got the two games, and it's everything I wanted it to be! It does get a bit jumpy (also on the 2nd gen Ipod, so its probably not due to older models) sometimes when transitioning and walking through towns, but otherwise an excellent import of FF.
I'm currently using my fiance's iPod Touch to play this. I would say that I'm am now considering getting one of my own.
SquareEnix, please release a 2D English version of FFIII for this or any system. I would buy it, and I don't think that I'm the only one.
