The NES version is my favorite. | |

|---|---|---|
The original Final Fantasy. Featuring 8-bit graphics, tinny sythesized music, quirks and bugs aplenty, and a whole lot of charm, this is where it all started.
Also known as "the game that launched a thousand remakes", this game has been re-released on multiple consoles in the twenty years since its initial release. This game continues to bring enjoyment to gamers all over the world. | ||

Final Fantasy Nes version for the win!
I totally agree.
Best version
1 i have more comments then nicole
We have to do something about abusing the EXP system, I think.
Oh wait, I'm an admin, I can just delete comments that have no substance whatsoever.
so... shall we begin the discussion about the object under the floating castle in the orb? or does everyone agree that its the airship?
That's one effed-up airship. It looks like a giant bloated eyeball. Maybe even a Beholder if you use your imagination.
Must be a falling robot.
I thought it was the sky castle and the green ball was just the thing used to get from the tower to the castle
Well, if you look at it closely, you can clearly see wings on the side, and a set if propellers at the top.
Its gotta be the airship at that point.
So the only easy way to [legally] get this version now is to buy it on the Wii.
Kind of makes me want to get a Wii all the more.
I have the wii, bought the VC game, played for 30 minutes and 1 month later have yet to log more time
I finally played more of FF but now another game is takeing my atention span
@ Ruzlok after all this time is it really still illegal to DL the original NES version
@Kain: No aslong as you pay for the download
@Neo: That's actually not true. If you pay for a ROM you're not just doing something illegal, you're stupid. As far as I know, getting FF1 for the VC is the only legal way to download it because you're paying Nintendo directly.
@Nicole: THATS WHAT I MEANT
@Neo: and it's legal to download the rom if you own the original NES copy. like me :P
Ok i give up
Look at what I started... ;D
Best version no doubt.
I've never really paid any attention to the original box art; I don't like it
Something interesting about the Wii Virtual Console version; the Clinic has the familiar US Heart on the building, but has the Japanese Cross on the building in the instuctions
Q:did you really get a 84 page explorers handbook with a world and dungeon map and a monster chart with the game?
@Kain, No...they just put that on the main cover to fool you? =D haha.
I'll have to dig around and see if I still have all of the materials that came with my FF1.
I know I had the retail box with it's limited maps, and the NP Strat Guide.... and I know in class I used to doodle weapon charts and such on graph paper out of sheer boredom...
I remember when I was young, my dad had the maps and monster chart. Used to look up the beasties for him when they spawned. How I got hooked into this game. =D
As for the 84 page Explorer Handbook, He either did not have one or lost it for I never looked at one.
okay I have been looking everywhere but can't find a picture of the handbook and charts and whatnot if someone finds it can you please post a link
Cheers =D

cool unfortunately I cant read it :( too bad we don't get as much stuff with games now a days seeing as how we do pay €60 ($90) for new games over here
OH FRIK I have never known anyone else to have that world map. I can't tell you the mileage I've gotten out of that thing. As a guide, for navigating the rivers around Gurgu/Ice Cave, and just as a really cool toy for playing explorer when I was a stupid unimaginative toddler. And I still have it, too. Still playing explorer.
@Kain - Aye, it was the best I could find. =[ sorry. Also they don't give you that for current RPG's because all new RPG's are too easy. =D
:p still wish I could flick through the book though, thanks for the link anyway
I'll see what I can dig up.
Still can't find it but anyway here a link to the GBA manual http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.3684
anyway this site has lots of manuals in Pdf. format
CLASSIC!!!
I had the original NES cartridge with my copy of the Nintendo FF strategy guide up until a sudden move about 3 years ago, when it was lost in the shuffle
I was crushed..
SUCCESS! I've found it at last

It's everything I've ever wanted it to be *sniff* I think i'm going to cry
Nice find, Kain.
I was actually surprised when I read it, seeing as it is just a NES book I thought it was going to be filled with useless garbage and lots of Typos but all the info is pretty sound, decent walkthrough as well, i'll try to find the map also.
Hey All, first post here, just want to say this is the best game of all time!!!
I just purchased mine. Its so awesome! NES version FTW! :D
I still play it on the nes, but you can now get it on the wii shop channel as well. Good thing to, my nes system is starting to go...
i like swords
I still own an NES along with this game!
I have it for the NES.
Since I have it on the wii and nes, now I can have two diffrent games going at once.
I have this game still, man this was the first game I even played!
Original Final Fantasy is the best game of all time, period. Released in 1990 and in 2010 it's still being played and still has websites devoted to it. <3
I *had* to buy it on the WII. Before that I was playing it all the time on the PC with EMU. I have the game cartridge for the NES but don't have an NES anymore.
