It's the best version of the classic FF, ever. The extra dungeons are great, Mode7 graphics when on an Airship are pretty neat... It has just one fatal flaw: it ends.

It's okay. It's good to get if you want to play FF on the go. However, they made it even easier than Origins Easy Mode (which is practically too easy as it is). The "modernizations" aren't a bad thing, but it doesn't really even feel like Final Fantasy I anymore. While I don't regret buying this, if I could only pick one, it would definitely be Origins.

Easily the best port/remake of the original Final Fantasy. I've played this one through 20+ times.

WAAAAY too easy, but it was worth a runthrough on an emulator.
LOVE the new translation
Love the new graphics (mostly)
Hate the new leveling system
HATE the magic pool
HATE HATE HATE the new items, like "phoenix down". Death is no longer an issue, apparently.

I agree totally with DrNKR, Down of Souls is absolutely the best version of Final Fantsy. Yes, undoubtedly it is the easiest version and perhaps even too easy for an experienced player of the franchice. However, I think it is just perfect for a rookie. Especially I appreciate the accurate translation and storytelling. NES version is a mere joke.

It is so not the best version. It is way to easy! Its for kids that can't handle the challenge of the original. PS1 version all the way!

Fun, but it's TOO EASY.
99 Heal pots
99 Hi-pots
99 X-pots (asuming can you buy them?)
99 Phoenix Downs
99 Eathers (that's 99 extra Nukes, btw)
and some Elixers for kicks
Oh, and Save ANYWHERE when not in combat/animation.
I like it, it's fun, but it realy is too easy.

Right now, I will say this game is awesome!! Only Flaw:
(FF Dawn of Souls)
I FREAKIN' HATE THE BOSS OMEGA!!!!
(and people say this version's too easy...Omega's a MAJOR exception)
*kicks Omega's FINALLY lifeless metallic body*
'Can't Wave Cannon our Party or claw me NOW, can you?! Worthless piece of shrapnel!'
Ok, I'm done for now. But I'll come back to beat up Omega for sure! I mean, the number of times it actually took me to beat that thing...I made my Victory Fanfare last! I REALLY could've use White Mage's Healara & Full Life, though...

Try beating Omega and/or Shin-Ryu with one character.
Even at level 99 with the best armor, the Lightbringer, and countless Tempers, solo red maging them is a pain in the ASS.

And then a pig flew by your window, right?
If they just took FF1 NES and updated the Graphics, fixed the bugs ,and left everything else alone, I'd buy it. This version was so easy it was barely worth playing. You could beat Garland at level 1, no problem as long as you had a Fighter. (Yeah, its a f--king Fighter!)

My NES crashed [sad sad day] so i went out and got said game. Very nice, if not excruciatingly easy. Took me an hour and a half to get to where it took me like, a few days to get to on the NES, but still very fun.

I suppose you mean monk. Of course he is. He is cheap, for he does not use any magic and makes most damage without weapons. And that damage is pretty great from the beginning. His only flaw is his pretty low defence, but after class upgrade and levelling up enough that will not be a problem anymore, whereas his attack gets the better of both knight and ninja, as he hits with both hands.

I just got the GBA version (DoS) it´s easy but it´s a more fun game. Bugs are fixed, you can actually use your magic and stuff like that.
What the heck, you could actually complete this game while you are on a plane or something like that.

I played this.
It's kind of pointless.
I'll never understand why Square won't remake Final Fantasy. They just keep on ripping it off with this stuff like this.
It could be more fun and maybe more appropriate under a name like: GBA FF1 Type Game.
But that wouldn't make money, I suppose.
